Precision Tork’s Welcoming a Brand New Product
Precision Tork located in Midland, Michigan is excited to introduce to our customers the Roll On Pilfer Proof Capping Headset, or ROPP. This is a new product line that utilizes a method of capping that involves forming the threads of the cap when it is placed onto a bottle. ROPP heads are different from other capping methods. In other capping methods, the thread is already formed on the bottle and the cap when it is placed on the bottle. Forming the thread in ROPP applications is made possible by using a malleable material such as aluminum for the cap. Initially, the cap is just an aluminum sleeve that is placed on the bottle. Forming the threads works by using hard stainless steel rollers that are pressed into the cap and follow the already pre-made thread and pilfer ledge on the glass bottle. This creates a thread on the cap that matches the bottle, so it can be screwed off. It also creates a pilfer band on the cap, which must be broken in order to remove the cap. The immense down pressure applied to the top of the cap through the ROPP head creates a seal between the cap and bottle, preserving the liquid inside.
Precision Tork is in the process of designing our own model of a ROPP head, for both single station cappers and large rotary machines. We have manufactured a prototype that we are refining with numerous optimizations. Our next design will be competitive with the current industry standard of ROPP headsets. We are expecting to be in production of an ROPP head for the Amcor Stelvin 30×60 cap by the end of this year!
Domestically Made Roll On Pifler Proof Capping Headsets
Our team of expert capping engineers have been hard at work to make this ROPP head a reality. Once the design is finished we will be using our Michigan based machine shop to machine the components. These machined components will then go to our assembly team also located in the United States to put the final product together. From start to finish 100% of our headset will be made in the USA.
Purchasing products like this from overseas can also be very expensive and have long lead times. Some foreign providers in the capping industry will expedite an order and fail to ship in 8 weeks! We at Precision Tork have seen it happen. As the only domestic manufacturer of ROPP heads shipping domestically in a timely fashion is no problem and our prices are very competitive.
